Fire containment blankets for batteries and electric vehicles

Our fire containment blankets are designed to contain fires involving lithium-ion batteries, HV batteries, traction batteries and electric vehicles. They can help to reduce the spread of flames, heat, smoke and flying sparks, and secure the affected area in a more controlled manner.

Applications for our fire-resistant ceilings:

  • Lithium-ion batteries: Coverage of individual batteries and battery systems in the event of excessive heating or fire.
  • HV and traction batteries: Suitable for larger battery systems in industry, logistics and automotive engineering.

Depending on the version, our fire-retardant blankets are made from high-temperature-resistant silicate fabric and feature reinforced seams as well as practical carrying loops. Selected models have been tested or certified in accordance with DIN EN 13501-1, DIN 54345-1 or DIN SPEC 91489.

Frequently asked questions about fire-retardant ceilings

A fire containment blanket is placed over burning batteries, battery systems or vehicles. It can help to contain flames, heat, smoke and flying sparks within a specific area.
As a rule, its primary purpose is to contain the fire. It is no substitute for the fire service or a comprehensive fire safety plan, and does not guarantee that the fire will be completely extinguished.
The cover must be large enough to completely cover the object in question. Smaller versions are sufficient for individual rechargeable batteries or battery systems, whilst significantly larger covers are required for electric vehicles.
Depending on the design, tests may have been carried out in accordance with DIN EN 13501-1, DIN 54345-1 or DIN SPEC 91489. The exact certification is specified for each product.
